Bluetooth is a specification for wireless communication by radio. It is designed to allow wireless communication between two devices: mobile phone, headset, computer, printer, GPS, radio, etc. or the sensor and measuring device industry. The interest of Bluetooth is its low energy consummation in comparison with other wireless systems such as WiFi.

The data flow is 1 Mbps from 10 meters (class 2) to 100 meters (class 1). It uses the frequency band ISM (Industry, Science and Medical) 2.4 GHz.

The application of the latest specification allows up to 100 Mbps speeds provided in low consumption.
